Search retargeting allows you to serve ads to users based on their keyword search behavior, targeting individuals who have searched for specific terms related to your products or services. Follow the steps below to create a search audience:
Step 1: Navigate to the Audiences Section
On the left-hand side of your screen, locate and click on Audience.
Step 2: Create a New Audience
Select "+ Audience" at the top of the screen.
Choose Search as your targeting type.
Name your audience and, if desired, add a description (optional).
Click Create to proceed.
Note: Those using search retargeting should expect to add at least $1 to their CPM rates, as this method utilizes third-party data that may increase the bid amount required to win auctions.
Step 3: Add Keywords to Your Audience
You can manually enter the keywords you want to target or upload a file containing those keywords.
For bulk CSV uploads, please download and use the keyword template provided at the top of the screen.
Step 4: Activate Your Audience
After entering or uploading your keywords, click Activate Audience in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Keyword Guidelines
When submitting your keywords, ensure that each search term phrase contains no more than three words and is separated by commas. This helps optimize the targeting process and keeps your audience focused.
Additionally, be aware that there are restrictions on targeting specific medical conditions or diseases. If you're unsure about the eligibility of certain keywords, feel free to contact us via chat. We’re happy to help review and provide recommendations for your keyword selection.
Choosing the Right Keywords
Consider what your target audience is likely to search for when looking for your products or services. For example, if you run a snowboarding apparel company, you might use keywords like:
Mens snowboarding gloves
Men snowboarding gear
Note: These keywords are used to build an audience pool for display advertising and differ from the ones you'd typically use in paid search or SEO campaigns.
